Marie
Garafano is a professional artist with over 30 years of experience.
Her work includes beautiful, sensitive portraits in oil or watercolor
that capture not only the likeness of the subject, but the spirit
of the individual as well.
She received a BFA from The Philadelphia College of Art, now called
The University of the Arts, where she is currently a faculty member.
In addition to watercolor classes at the University, she also teaches
a children's book class at The Hussian School of Art.
Prior to her teaching positions, she enjoyed a successful career as
an illustrator and completed several books for well-known publishers
such as Houghton Mifflin (Ginger Goes on a Diet), McGraw-Hill, and
Scott-Foresman. Other high-profile clients include The Franklin Mint,
and several locations of The Palm Restaurant (Tampa, Nashville and
L.A.)
Ms. Garafano is an active board member of The Philadelphia Water Color
Society. She has participated in many juried shows throughout the
Northeast and has won several awards, including The Edith Emerson
Prize for Portrait at The 62nd Annual Juried Show at Woodmere Art
Museum. Her work is held in many private collections and admired by
all individuals with a genuine love of art. |
